Storefront Stories

Jun 24 / Community + Events

Behind every storefront, there’s a story.

Think about the local shops and restaurants you’ve missed most – the places and people that have become part of your life. Like the barista who knows you by name. The restaurant where you celebrate every family birthday. The boutique owner who always has time to chat and give treats to your dog. These businesses are what make Hyde Park Village feel like home, and the sense of connection they bring feels more valuable than ever.

Now, as they reopen their doors, we’re highlighting some of our neighbors through a new series, #storefrontstories. Through photos and interviews, we’re showcasing and celebrating the people behind the businesses you love, who have persevered through uncertain times and continue to make Hyde Park Village so special.

Watch the stories unfold on Instagram and get excited to return to your favorites. Want to see a certain business featured? Let us know!

Candle Pour

Dennis and Misty, Owners of The Candle Pour

Q: What do you love most about being part of the Hyde Park Village family?
Misty: Hyde Park Village is the heart of South Tampa. The support from our community & the other Hyde Park tenants has been incredible. It truly feels like a family and we all want one another to be successful. Also the amazing support from the management team in Hyde Park. I’ve worked all over the country and honestly have never had the support of a management team or landlord like we get from them.

Q: What’s one interesting fact about you or your business that you want your customers to know?
Misty: It started in a garage!  I bought so many supplies and equipment to try to learn how to make great candles.  What I learned is:

3. Candles create a total mess.
I kept working at it and testing, but that gave me hope that people would prefer to come to us, rather than do it at home.

Q: Now that we’re open, I’m most excited for:
Misty: Feeling that sense of “community” again. I have missed providing a memorable and unique experience for our customers.  I’m also excited to watch our team work together again and continue to grow.
