Loading Docks on Swann Avenue
Hyde Park Village and CASS Contemporary have partnered to bring Street Art to life in South Tampa. CASS Contemporary enlisted nationally renowned local artists, Tes One and BASK to turn the Village into a canvas. The duo reinvented the loading dock doors found in Hyde Park Village on Swann Avenue with edgy and graphic street art that embodies the trendy aesthetic of the upcoming redesign the Village will see in coming months.

Bask is the moniker of one, Ales “Bask” Hostomsky, who along with his parents emigrated from Czechoslovakia to Florida and began to soak up America’s popular iconic imagery along with the sun. The artist’s richly textural work imbue his “anti-iconic,” sometimes satirical worldview with an undercurrent of dark emotion. Combining his graphic skill with his trademark multi-layered applications, Bask builds up the surface only to break down the image.

Combining traditional and non-traditional techniques, Leon “Tes One” Bedore creates works of art that contrast nature with technology, grime with grace. Allowing himself to find beauty in the mundane, he is able to juxtapose rejected landscapes with figurative illustrations, all the while identifying what is common between the conversing elements. These opposing forces coexist to create paintings that are both symbolic and metaphorical. Tes One’s conceptual paintings are assembled from the foundation up; color and cast blanket organic substrates. Incorporating movement within his work brings his energy and message to the viewer, emotions envelope and hold focus.
